Who should play the role of Solid Snake in a Metal Gear movie?

This is probably a well deserved question. Here is an interesting article done by someone at Venturebeat a few days ago, that basically takes that question and breaks it down into 6 parts, or rather 6 reasons why the Metal Gear game series doesn't even need a movie. Of course most of us are still glad it's in production and getting made, with Avi Arad at the helm. The Metal Gear storyline is so deep, involving, and long that it has many wondering just exactly what story are they going to use anyway. What's known so far is that Solid Snake, and not Big Boss, will be the center of attention in the movie. Hideo Kojima originally toyed with the idea of using Hugh Jackman, the guy who played Wolverine in the X-Men movies, to play the role of Solid Snake. That idea got show down, as Kojima wants to use an "unknown" actor, a fresh face in Hollywood to play that part. I don't have a problem with that as long as he "looks" the part and performs it well.

Since Kojima is supervising the movie, and Avi Arad is producing, who also did hit movies like Spider-Man, Iron-Man, and X-Men, you can rest assured that a Metal Gear game based movie shouldn't be a flop like a number of other video game to movie adaptations have been in the past. What left a bad taste in the mouths of gamers was way back when a Super Mario Bros. movie came out, and another based on Double Dragon. Remember how terrible those were? I though Bowser was a dragon, and not some weird looking guy. Anyway, back to Metal Gear, check this video out talking about the Metal Gear movie and what you can expect to see in it.
