Who should play the role of Solid Snake in a Metal Gear movie?

Thứ Hai, 8 tháng 10, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

This is probably a well deserved question. Here is an interesting article done by someone at Venturebeat a few days ago, that basically takes that question and breaks it down into 6 parts, or rather 6 reasons why the Metal Gear game series doesn't even need a movie. Of course most of us are still glad it's in production and getting made, with Avi Arad at the helm. The Metal Gear storyline is so deep, involving, and long that it has many wondering just exactly what story are they going to use anyway. What's known so far is that Solid Snake, and not Big Boss, will be the center of attention in the movie. Hideo Kojima originally toyed with the idea of using Hugh Jackman, the guy who played Wolverine in the X-Men movies, to play the role of Solid Snake. That idea got show down, as Kojima wants to use an "unknown" actor, a fresh face in Hollywood to play that part. I don't have a problem with that as long as he "looks" the part and performs it well.

Since Kojima is supervising the movie, and Avi Arad is producing, who also did hit movies like Spider-Man, Iron-Man, and X-Men, you can rest assured that a Metal Gear game based movie shouldn't be a flop like a number of other video game to movie adaptations have been in the past. What left a bad taste in the mouths of gamers was way back when a Super Mario Bros. movie came out, and another based on Double Dragon. Remember how terrible those were? I though Bowser was a dragon, and not some weird looking guy. Anyway, back to Metal Gear, check this video out talking about the Metal Gear movie and what you can expect to see in it. Who should play Solid Snake?, that's the biggest question circling around out there. This being the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear game series, it's no wonder so much MG stuff keeps getting released. Happy birthday.

More news about the Metal Gear movie and some new elements you can look forward to

Thứ Sáu, 5 tháng 10, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

The biggest concern every fan has of the Metal Gear game series is the same one I myself have, and that is "they had better by god do the movie right and make it great". Believe me, I know how you feel. But try this on for size, this might make you feel a lot better. Hideo Kojima himself will be supervising the movie and wants to make sure it follows the Metal Gear story line to the fullest extent. Here is some more tidbits of information regarding the awesome new Metal Gear game based movie now in production. At the European Expo recently, Kojima had this to say:

“I will not be writing the script or directing the movie but of course I am supervising the movie… the script and the casting to make sure that it is very faithful to the metal gear series. As I’m sure everyone knows, I did want to become a film-maker very early on, but that said, Metal Gear is a special thing to me and in my mind it will always be a game, so I don’t think that I would be the one to create a movie based on the Metal Gear franchise.”

He went on to comment on video games -to- movie adaptations:

“Historically, I think most game movies haven’t done so well, they’ve been fairly disappointing, so when the news of the Metal Gear Solid movie came out, I think a lot of people were worried at that point,” said Kojima. “But I do want to say that Avi knows Metal Gear and we’re working very closely together on this. I’m sure that the script and the casting will work out very well."

Kojima also voiced his opinion about who should play the role of Solid Snake:

"In the past I’ve said guys like Hugh Jackman or somebody like that. But honestly, I think after thinking about it more it’s probably better to go with someone new, a rising star, someone who hasn’t been typecast as a certain character and that’s kind of the route that we’re thinking of, right now. Avi Arad is very good at finding these people, these rising stars, and I think we can find somebody who can make it big and have Solid Snake be their break in the movie industry, I think we’re looking forward to something cool.”

So now we know he will be keeping a watchful eye on things to ensure the Metal Gear game based movie isn't a total flop like some video game movies end up becoming. The fact that Avi Arad is producing, a famous man responsible for box office hits like the X-Men series, Spider-Man and Iron-Man, we can now feel comfortable in knowing that the new Metal Gear movie will go quite nicely with our popcorn and soda.

More about who might be in the new Metal Gear movie and who might not be

Thứ Tư, 3 tháng 10, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

I covered this already, but there is a new video that emerged and I thought I should bring it to your attention. So far what we  know about the new Metal Gear game based movie is that we do NOT know who will star in it. Only that Avi Arad will be producing it and Hideo Kojima is just fine with that pick of his. However, as of right now, Kojima has officially decided on who will play Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear movie, and he is not disclosing that information at this time. It's been said its because this new unknown actor is a fresh face in Hollywood and this movie is likely going to be his big break and the start of his career. It was originally thought that Hugh Jackman, the guy who played Wolverine in the X-Men movies might get the part of Solid Snake, but that idea was shot down. Pity, I thought he might have made a decent Solid Snake for the movie, but I could be wrong, perhaps Wolverine is where he shined the brightest.

Avi Arad is the one who produced the X-Men movies, as well as Iron-Man, Spider-Man and a number of other comic book to movie adaptations. Also, since he has looked upon video games as the comic books of the future, I feel confident that the new Metal Gear game based movie is going to be a success. Now I just wish Hideo Kojima would reveal who this unknown actor is so we can see his face and get a visual image of what he would look like as Solid Snake, the suspense is killing me, and you isn't it? Oh, and about Solid Snake, by now you know the storyline is going to be about him, and not Big Boss, some people might not like that, but hey!, it's still Solid Snake we're talking about. By the way, who do you think would be a good idea to play the other characters in the movie? Who should play Revolver Ocelot? So many questions to be answered, which they will in time. Watch the video below to get an idea of what's going on here.

The Metal Gear movie debate heats up as fans are wondering who and what will be in it

Thứ Năm, 20 tháng 9, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

Now that we know there will be a Metal Gear game based movie released, and is currently in production, so many questions keep popping up all over the place. Who will be direct it, who will play Solid Snake, which storyline will they use, and so on. One of the biggest debates is whether they should use the original Metal Gear game storyline, like the one that was on the MSX system, or use the Metal Gear Solid storyline that came out on the PSX back in 1998. Hideo Kojima had mentioned that he liked the idea of using Chistopher Nolan, the guy who directed The Dark Knight, as a director for a Metal Gear movie. Personally I thought that would be a fantastic idea, especially given the success of The Dark Knight and the mechanics used to make it so awesome. That kind of innovation would go great with Metal Gear in a movie adaptation.

Today, I stumbled upon a page where there is quite a number of debates and commenting going on about the production of the movie, whether it be storyline, actors, directing, whatever. It's located at MovieLine and really gets into the discussion over it. I myself am wondering what you folks think about a Metal Gear game based movie and what elements should control it. David Hayter, (voice actor, and MGS fan) has written a screen play for the Metal Gear movie as of right now, and it just might get used. Columbia Pictures will produce the movie as well. Look at the funny video below of David Hayter being interviewed, if you can even call that an interview, more like a comedy clip.

Reasons why the Metal Gear movie will be a megahit, because guess who will be producing it of course?

Thứ Ba, 18 tháng 9, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

I found an interesting article I'd like to share with you concerning the new Metal Gear game based movie now in production. Many have worries that a movie adaptation of a popular series that already is famous for its unreal cinema sequences might not fair too well at the box office. Well, let's just say you might want to cheer up on that one, because MovieLine has made some really nice points about how the new Metal Gear movie will actually be quite a hit on the big screen. In the past you've seen how well made and awesome the movie sequences in the game itself are, and can be a model and catalyst for the production of the film. The fact that Metal Gear is already a movie inside a movie is a big help, and the fact that you have Avi Arad producing the darn thing is already a big plus. Yeah, click on that link and see what kind of movies he's famous for, it'll knock you out of your socks. Spider Man, Iron Man, X-Men, just to name a *few* out there. He was picked because he is renowned for his adaptation for comic books to movies, and has stated that video games are the comic books of today.

The article makes some interesting points, for those of you who may have doubts or concerns. No fan of the Metal Gear game series wants to see Konami games development's brainchild get trashed by some bad film decision making. Hideo Kojima is also a fan of Batman movies like The Dark Knight and it's been suggested that Christian Bale might be good for the role of Solid Snake. The idea of using Hugh Jackman who is famous for his role as "Wolverine" in the X-Men movies has also been toyed around with. He might just fit the bill since playing the role of Solid Snake is close to the type of rugged character he's used to. After your finished reading it let me know what you think and who you think would be best for the Solid Snake role.

The Metal Gear movie in production and who is behind it.

Chủ Nhật, 16 tháng 9, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

It's finally becoming a reality, a Metal Gear movie now currently in production. It's an idea that's been toyed with for years on end, but a number a questions about it have never been answered. Some of those questions are based around the fact that a lot of game to movie film adaptations are done poorly, while another question circles around wondering which Metal Gear game storyline will be used in the first place. Yet the biggest concern of all is how do you make a transition from game to movie and still make it a masterpiece. Fans of the Metal Gear game series know full and well, how awesome the cinema sequences are in Metal Gear, and it's an absolutely big issue to take that tradition and translate it over to the big screen. That's not a problem, according to Hideo Kojima that is.

Recently there was an event taking place in Tokyo, Japan to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear game franchise. At that event, Kojima had with him, the founder and CEO of Marvel Studios, Avi Arad. You may know that name well, as he assisted in the production of hit movies like SpiderMan 2, and Iron Man. He has been renowned for his work in taking a comic book icon, and porting it over the the box office, and has hailed video games as being "the comic books of today". That statement holds true since the Metal Gear game series is also well known for its long and very involving cinema sequences. It's no wonder fans have been hammering their heads for so long over the simple "idea" of a Metal Gear game based movie, and not any real talk or motivation to make one a reality. Kojima is also a fan of movies like The Dark Knight, and mister Batman himself, Christian Bale has shown a desire to play the character of our beloved long time friend Solid Snake. He does seem to fit the bill, with multiple movies playing a lone caped crusader with an appetite for bringing his enemies down.

It doesn't stop there of course, since Avi Arad has also assisted in the production of the X-Men movies, the idea of using Hugh Jackman, mister "Wolverine" himself, has also been suggested from what I've heard recently. As to which one would pull off playing the role as Solid Snake is another matter, as some like Bale more, while others prefer Jackman. A former Wolverine character does match Solid Snake's personality, at least to a degree, and of course he does happen to know Avi Arad personally since they both worked on the X-Men movies. If he picks Jackman for Snake's role, I can't say I would blame him for it.

Now the new question that still hasn't been decided and answered is of course, which Metal Gear game storyline will be used for a live movie? Even though the Metal Gear franchise has been going on for 25 long years, it didn't take off like some people realize until the introduction of "Metal Gear Solid", way back in 1998. From that point we had massive storyline telling and cinema sequences to watch, now that we had better technology to illustrate it all. So do we use the original Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, Snake Eater, or Guns of the Patriots storyline to add to Solid Snake's role? Now that we have a full on Metal Gear game based movie in production, that's the biggest question that has yet to be answered. Watch the trailers below and then comment on which storyline do you like the most and want to see put in a movie.

A Metal Gear Solid movie is a reality as plans for production go into effect soon

Thứ Hai, 3 tháng 9, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

It's now official. Konami has clearly stated that in partnership with Columbia pictures, they do indeed intend to make a Metal Gear movie. The first efforts it seemed were scrapped because of some deep issues that were involved. The biggest questions that get asked take place when you try to make a movie adaptation of a video game. You have to bring in the right people for the job. The Metal Gear game storyline is so vast and intricate, that you really have to take time to get the movie right. That of course is why Avi Arad was brought in on the job to make sure the Metal Gear movie gets the attention it needs. He produced many Marvel based cartoons, and is no stranger to taking comic book franchises and turning them into movie magic. He believes that video games in this day and age are the "comic books of today", so with his help, and some added Konami influence from Hideo Kojima, the new Metal Gear game based movie has a lot of potential. There is a video clip for you to watch about it and whats currently going on right now if you head over to IGN right now and check it out.

So who do you think should play Solid Snake? Which storyline do you think would be best for a Metal Gear game based movie? Who knows how long the production time will be for the new Metal Gear movie but at least there are no more empty promises or false starts about the whole thing. In the meantime, if you haven't already, check out the new trailer for Metal Gear Solid Ground Zero. It's very long, about 11 minutes.

A bit more about the Metal Gear Solid movie with some new details that emerged

Thứ Năm, 30 tháng 8, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

Every shred of information helps. Even if it's just a little. Let me shed some light on what might be happening with the development of the Metal Gear Solid movie going on. According to the source post at TgDaily today, De Luca is NOT involved with the Metal Gear movie anymore, instead Konami has brought on veteran of comic book film adaptations, Avi Arad as the new producer. He was with Hideo Kojima at the Comic book event and had this to say about it:

"For many years I fought to bring comics to theaters,” Arad said to the audience at the event. "Comic books are now biggest genre in cinema, Video games are the comic books of today. We will take our time and tell the story with all the nuances, ideology, cautionary tales needed.” He then joked with Hideo Kojima, Vice President of Konami Digital Entertainment, about possibly getting Kojima’s favorite filmmaker, Christopher Nolan involved on the film."

So far nothing is known as to what storyline from Solid Snake's life will be in the new Metal Gear game based movie, and nothing is known as to who will star in it. However, Hideo Kojima did mention a preference to Matt Damon or Hugh Jackman to cast as the star in the movie. More on the pre-production of the new Metal Gear game based movie as it unfolds.

It had to happen sooner or later, and I'm glad it finally did. Many people have been wondering if and when there will ever be a Metal Gear movie made. Well, you can relax now. What we now know is that Columbia pictures will release it, and the producer is Avi Arad, who is the head over the project. All of these things happening with the Metal Gear game series lately has demonstrated one thing. First of all, it's all about timing, as this year is the 25th anniversary of the Metal Gear game franchise, and second of all, now that the new Metal Gear game Ground Zero has been announced, this could be the last Metal Gear Solid game ever made again, at least one that stars Solid Snake as the main character.

So why not top it all off with an awesome Metal Gear game based movie? The new questions are this, now that we know it's gone into production, who is going to star in it? Also, what will the exact plot be and where will it take place? All of this will be answered in time, and as always, as soon as I find out I'll let you know anything I find about the new Metal Gear movie and post it here.
