Kara Kpop Group gets its own social card game for iOS and Android

Usually Konami games development is responsible for music titles like Dance Dance Revolution, and all of the music extension games that have spun off from it over the years. This one however is a different twist. You might be familiar with the Kpop group called Kara. They are a pretty big hit in Japan, not to mention some really sweet looking Asian ladies to boot. Well as a courtesy from Konami, they now have their own social card game which is already available for iOS and Android formats. Is it a music game?, not so much. This particular title called "Kara collection" is where you use Kara cards in things like talk battles, song battles, and dance battles. You then can level up your Kara cards just like in other social card battle games that are a bit similar.
As you can see below, you basically collect various cards of each of the famous singers, and after seeing how cute they are, what guy wouldn't want the entire set? Music doesn't just stop at Dance Dance Revolution, it's heading toward your Android and iPhone soon, and as a free download! Yes, I said free. As in you don't have to pay for it as it is also a free download. That should please Kara and Kpop fans out there at least. Check out some images and video below and tell me what you think of them. The old Konami code for Contra and Gradius was used to activate a game that was hacked into a U.S. government website

This is definitely not something that happens on a regular basis, and yet it happened recently. Aaron Swartz was the reason behind the hacking of two U.S. government websites just a few days ago, and it was in response to the suicide of Aaron. From what I understand, here is what took place. This is from the source page located at PCMag recently:
"Swartz, who helped develop RSS, was an activist who ran afoul of the law after downloading portions of the JSTOR academic paper database. Swartz apparently intended to distribute the papers for free, an act of protest over JSTOR's business model, which led to him facing a maximum of 35 years in prison. He committed suicide in his Brooklyn home earlier this month. Swartz's supporters blame investigators and prosecutors for his death, whom they claim overstepped their authority."
"A game of Nyan-cat flavoured Asteroids will begin if you enter the following 'Konami code': ↑ ↑ ↓ ↓ ← → ← → (up up, down down, left right, left right on the cursor keys) then press 'B', 'A' and 'Enter,'" writes Sophos. Once entered, a dialog box appears. It reads, "PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW! End Prosecutorial Overreach!" A Nyan-cat image then appears in the middle of the page, controlled by the arrow keys. Pressing the space bar fires a weapon used to destroy the page's elements revealing a memorial tribute to Swartz. For those impatient, pressing "F" will release a bomb and blow up elements more quickly."

I've been there before. You know, when you see a trailer to a new game and after watching it decide you want it for yourself. Then comes the bad part, when you get it home and play it only to realize you've finished it in only a few hours. Don't you hate it when that happens? I sure do. However there is some really great news for all of you fans of the Castlevania game series out there. That being the latest Castlevania game Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate. According to Dave Cox, who is head of the development team at Mercury Steam, has made a statement recently that addresses the issue of longevity game play value. He states that Mirror of Fate will deliver at LEAST a minimum of 20 hours of game play for those who decide to purchase it. Now with that being said, I want to make one thing crystal clear. Almost every time a developer says that a game will last a certain amount of time, you can almost guarantee that it will be considerably longer than that.
Replay value and download able content are something that Mercury Steam is becoming more and more famous for these days. With this new 3DS Castlevania game you can expect to have some extra goodies likely coming from the Nintendo eShop section soon as well. Lords of Shadow 2 is also expected to have much more DLC than the first one, something that players have been begging for more of since the first one made its debut back in 2010. The new Mirror of Fate game is also expected to be linkable to Lords of Shadow 2 for even more features to boot. So gamers can definitely look forward to a minimum of 20 hours of Castlevania goodness soon, and likely more than that for most of you fans. Once again, Mirror of Fate is set for a launch date in North America on March 5th, while Europe will see its release just a few days later on March 8th. Japanese gamers will get to have a taste soon after on March 20th. Ever since cosplay in gaming has caught on, all it has ever done is get bigger and gained a heck of a lot of attention in the process. It seems like everything from Metal Gear to Castlevania to almost whatever you can imagine has been done in some form or another at one time. People going so far as to spend large amounts of time just to create suits and works of art that some are just almost too hard to believe any one person could have done. At least not by themselves. Well guess what? Silent Hill is certain no exception to the rule. One particular character being the nurses in Silent Hill. I'm glad I'm doing this post because if you search this blog I believe you'll only find one other post I've done about this particular subject, and that was years ago.
This new one is made possible by the famous Yukilefay, and she has one incredible site that she runs which features far more than just the Silent Hill game series. For those of you who don't know who or what she represents, you are in for a real treat. In fact, let me just cut to the chase and guide you to her special website which is titled DeviantArt. If you head there you will find much more than you bargained for in terms of cosplay suits and special works of art. Talk about dedication and hard work, she is both and then some. I don't believe I've ever seen a more extensive set of photos depicting cosplay suits and the delicate artistry details that go into the making of them. It's almost too hard to take in, but so very cool. You'll definitely spend some time there and will learn quite a bit about what this cosplay stuff is all about.

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance gets a dose of 3 new video trailers which show off some cool game play footage

We can never get too many of these little gems can we? Yeah, those new game play footage trailers for the latest Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, and I'm talking three of them this time. That's right, three! Let's start with the first one because I'm not sure which one I like the most, and you can decide that as well. The first is called the Zandatsu trailer and here is the description from the YouTube post:
"Cut what you will as you hack and slash your way through enemies using Blade Mode in Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance! Enemies dynamically react to the direction and location of each and every cut, allowing you to decimate you enemies in the precise way you see fit. Can't wait to start your road to Revengeance? The second is called the Suit Overview trailer and here is its description:

As we gear up for a March 5th release of the latest Castlevania game Lords of Shadow - Mirror of fate, it is never too much to give too much information, especially in the form of some cool new looking screen shots that have just been released. These are full on game play shots and are able to give you a better understanding of the play mechanics of Mirror of Fate should any of you still have any last minute wonders on whether or not this new 3DS hit will be on your wish list this year. Oh and while I'm at it, Dave Cox of Mercury Steam has Tweeted this recently about the release date of Mirror of Fate for those of you who live in Japan and can't wait to have a taste.

What happens when LEGO movies get a good whipping from the Castlevania series?

Just when I think I've seen everything, someone always comes along and proves me wrong. Castlevania: Legend of Vania is certainly no exception, a LEGO based movie. Yes I said LEGO, as in the toys that kids play with. You see, there has been a storm of LEGO based movies on YouTube over the years, and thanks to the tremendous efforts of some guys from Finland, a Castlevania one has been done, and on top of that it is an incredible 146 minutes long! Hovinet Films is the name of the small studio where it was made, and you're not going to believe how long it took them to make the movie. Seven years worth. Talk about dedication to a movie project. Of course this was done while going to college and taking care of other factors in life, but that's still a lot of effort over a long period of time.
The film has many familiar Castlevania game music tunes within it that most of you should recognize. Already it currently has over 45 thousand view counts as I write this post, and still on the rise. I really wonder if that number will reach 1 million this year, here's hoping. Also keep in mind that the voice acting is in a foreign language, but fear not, as it also has the option for English subtitles. According to the guy who posted it on YouTube, you can also download the movie as a torrent, wherever that may be located. You can Google it and likely find out, or you can just watch all 146 minutes of the LEGO Castlevania goodness from YouTube alone. I really wonder just how long it will be before Hollywood takes the issue of a full fledged Castlevania movie and actually puts one into production. A while back we were overjoyed when it was announced that a movie was being done, and yet it was only a fan based limited budget movie. Still that was much appreciated and a valiant effort. One thing is crystal clear, the Castlevania storyline has always, and will always be taken seriously by at least a few folks out there, something I never want to see fade away. Dracolle & Poker takes to the stage as a Dragon Collection poker game spinoff

You poker fans might really get a kick out of this one. Konami games development last year reached a record 20 million subscribers for its social games on the iOS and Android formats. Do you remember Dragon collection in particular? That one was a big hit in Japan, and now it's fixing to see a spin off release soon where Dragon Collection meets the world of poker rules. Yes, you heard right. It's called Dracolle & Poker, and it will basically feature Dragon Collection with the rules associated with a poker game. You collect cards and upgrades, making your own personal decks and then use them in battles. As of recently at the end of last year, you can now get the first Dragon Collection since Konami teamed up with GREE to bring it out in North America. I can only assume at this point that the same might happen with Dracolle & Poker, since it was such a big hit in Japan.
Dracolle & Poker is set to release later this month in Japan on the iOS format. Android users will see their release take place soon after. To get an idea of what the new poker spinoff is like, take a look a the official trailer below and see if this might be on your wish list this year.
