Will it be used for Metal Gear Solid 5? Perhaps, but we do know it will be used for The Phantom Pain, which many are starting to believe actually is MGS5, but we'll put a lid on that for now until something more solid comes to light. For now let's focus one some key issues discussed by the godfather of Metal Gear himself, Hideo Kojima. Recently in an interview Kojima discussed the future of gaming, which of course is in regards to what we can expect from the Playstation 4 and Xbox720 next generation console systems. The Fox Engine was the main focus that talks about what the overall initiative is for its use. Kojima explained and outlined a few things in regards to it.

"The concept of the ‘Fox Engine' is photo-realism." Kojima tweeted. "The age of fixating on pictures and sound in games is over. Now the questions are: How free is it? Does it connect to the Internet and is the game play smooth? Even so, a certain level of realistic atmosphere is required. "

"At Kojima Productions we're aiming for a line where even simple CG models look photo-realistic when you zoom out of the game screen."

"When Metal Gear Solid 1 was released in 1998, it was said that it was 'the day that [pre-rendered] movies would disappear.' We looked to the future and chose to have video sequences in the game that used polygon models instead of pre-rendered graphics. Now they make VFX movies with game engines."

"With Peace Walker, we tried a hand-held system with the age of cloud technology in mind. People laughed at us then, too."

"Businessmen in the field always think ‘What platform or career is going to succeed? With whom/where should I strengthen my ties?' and look to the future and choose their path from there. But technology is always evolving, and it always leaves the laboratory and becomes a part of everyday life. Creators must look to that future when they create."

So it looks like we can expect great things in the future with the famous Fox Engine at the helm, and one thing is for sure, Kojima certainly has the artistic vision for creating new concepts. Now imagine if Metal Gear had a gigantic world as vast as Skyrim. That is part of the main goal with Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes, and definitely a goal in mind Hideo has set for the future of other games, including next generation console platforms. Now about The Phantom Pain, which also uses the Fox Engine. How about we shed some more light on what that one is all about? Not knowing a lot about The Phantom Pain is becoming a real pain. As always I'll let you know as soon as I know.
