Pro Evolution Soccer will be getting a complete visual makeover thanks to the almighty Fox Engine

One thing that Pro Evolution Soccer has suffered from, is basically the same old looks every year. Even PES 2013 with all of its improvements still couldn't outshine FIFA once again, even though it did come a bit close. Last years release of PES had many improvements, not in just AI, but in control usage, game play add on features and so forth. That still wasn't going to cut it, as each year after year we never really saw a drastic change in visual content for it. That's about to change, and change big time. In an interview with Edge-Online recently, Kei Masuda spoke about the need for an entirely new engine for PES. The need is great but the time frame allowed every year makes it impossible to start from scratch and do one exclusively for their soccer game. The answer to this problem came in the form of relying on Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes best and number 1 friend, the Fox Engine.

"We couldn't overhaul our old engine in the yearly development cycle."  The schedule was too demanding. We reflected on the difficult transition, and could see the next-gen coming. We needed to make a new engine," said Kei Masuda.

Hideo Kojima added to this discussion last year at the PAX Prime event by saying:

"You can use it to make an FPS, an adventure game like Uncharted, or something on rails."

Tomorrow also marks the big day for Kojima at the Game Developers Conference, where he will indeed talk about the Fox Engine and its future use in games, as well we will also finally get some more information about how Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes is coming along. That's something we've been eager to get some new images and videos on for a long time now. As you may or may not know, the Fox Engine is known for its photo realistic imaging system, which makes objects and people look extremely detailed, just check out the flesh tone of Solid Snake if you haven't already. It makes you want to squeeze his cheek a bit doesn't it? For some nice examples of what the Fox Engine can do, take a good look at the images below and be amazed why don't you? Also check out the Game Developers Conference video trailer below for more information about it.
