It's been hailed as the best and most popular horror game in the series. Of course, you know what I'm talking about after seeing the title of this blog. Silent Hill 2 took us all by surprise upon its release back in the PS2 days. I thought it was going to be a bit hard for Konami to outdo the original Silent Hill on the PS1, and yet they did it 10 times over. Ever since then people have wondered if SH2 could ever be outdone, and yet to this day it still really hasn't. Of course that didn't stop one company from creating a special 3DS first person shooter called Cult County, a game that features a small Texas town that has some issues revolving around a "cult". The whole thing was motivated by none other than Silent Hill 2, and who could blame them?
Renegade Kid is the name of the company and they are set to release Cult County in early 2014. This will be the first episode of three parts per season, with two seasons total that will involved with this project. It will be something like a TV horror show that you play out, a concept that sounds like a pretty nifty idea. Renegade Kid states that more seasons will be made if the demand is high enough for it. They want to create a type of atmosphere that creates the kind of tension and horror that will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. After using Silent Hill 2 as a baseline model for creating the game itself, that is a very good foundation for outlining the feel and look of Cult County.
You can see from the video below and get an understanding of what all this means, should you decide to get in on the action upon its debut early next year. On a side note, this release will be a 3DS eShop download only. Why is that?, because Renegade Kid wanted to publish the game themselves, rather than have to depend on a publishing partner to get the job done and land it on store shelves. I think it's a better idea that way considering it has multiple parts and releases to the storyline. You wouldn't want the burden of the cost of having to put it in cart format every time a new episode is made. Also, the one thing the company wanted to emphasize on, was to make this a unique first person shooter, and not just your average run of the mill 3D game.
