Pro Evolution Soccer has been doing just that, going through an evolution over the years. It has been tweaked, redone, changed in almost every conceivable way except one. The graphics over the years have almost always looked the same. You could say that PES has reached a severe limitation and literally can't evolve anymore. Even with the next generation consoles hovering above our heads, one thing is for certain. Pro Evolution Soccer needs a complete makeover, and one that only the famous Fox Engine can deliver. So far you and I have seen what it can do for Metal Gear Solid 5. There has even been talk about using it for Silent Hill. Hideo Kojima himself has talked about the idea when it was mentioned to him about it.
With Metal Gear and Silent Hill out of the way and on the back burner, can you imagine what PES would look like with a Fox Engine makeover? That's a serious question since it uses motion capture technology rendering of what seems like real people and objects. Remember how realistic and detailed the soldiers looked like in Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain? Imagine having a soccer stadium and all of its players appear to be incredibly lifelike. Currently there is talk about Pro Evolution Soccer 2014, and the Fox Engine will be used for it. The plans to use it from then on is set in stone already. So take a hard look at the three photos below, and the videos after it for Pro Evolution Soccer 2014 and then ask yourself a question. What will the future of PES be like after the Fox Engine gets a hold of it? The bottom trailer appears to be the best one I could find at the moment that's floating around out there.
UPDATE - Due to the popularity of this post, I've removed the old trailer and replaced it with the latest E3 expo show trailer, which gives a better explanation of the new technology and features being introduced in PES 2014. Also be sure to check out other similar posts using the search box to the right.
