Isn't it strange how art imitates life, and vice versa? That concept also seems to stick rather well in the gaming world. You may or may not know about LovePlus. This is one of those simulators that you and I are not quite used to, but guess what?, it made it big time in Japan. Once introduced it sold around 250,000 copies and still growing, with more revisions turning up all the time. What is this? Why it's a girlfriend simulator of course. A card based version called LovePlus collection is fixing to take off in Japan on smartphones and other phone brands on the market in mid March, just a few days away. A new fourth girlfriend has been added this time around, which of course, is a rather difficult girl to try and win over, since she was made to be a bit of a troublemaker and is a bit hard to deal with. Then again, have you ever known a girl like that in real life? I have. Here are some statements in regard to the new LovePlus version from none other than producer Akari Uchida.
"The biggest difference from the console version is that you're able to touch upon all the charms of the girls in a very easy manner,"
"In a way, though the motifs of dating and school life, you're getting little bite-sized insights on their charms. You'll be working with your friends in-game to live with them, create assorted memories, and collect those in the form of cards; that's the main idea."
"Hopefully series fans will enjoy playing around with this in a kind of spin off way, while new users get an opportunity to know these girls better. If they like what they experience and decide to go meet the girls over on the portable versions, I couldn't be happier."
So it looks like Japanese owners will get to enjoy the new LovePlus title, but what about the rest of us? If we are lucky you just might see a girlfriend simulator in your near future. Unless you already have a real girlfriend in real life and this sort of thing just seems plain silly to you. No one is going to blame you for that.
