The new Metal Gear Rising Revengeance hits the store shelves today, but will it live up to the hype?

That's the ultimate question that's asked so far this year, and it'll get answered today. The new Metal Gear Rising Revengeance game that's been covered ever since its first announcement, has hit the store shelves today, February 19th, with Europe getting their copies just a couple of days later on the 21st. Rising Revengeance is not your typical Metal Gear game, like we've all known over the years with Metal Gear Solid. This time around it's a fast pace hack and slash type of game play, and not your usual "sneaking around stealth game play" like you've experienced in the past with our beloved Solid Snake. No sir, this is some high velocity action where the main character Raiden uses what's called a high powered plasma sword that will cut through just about anything.

The length of the game is not as long as I would've hoped for, about 10 hours which includes those beautiful cut scenes of course, an element that Metal Gear games definitely can't live without. While regular enemies are not too hard, those boss battles are extremely intense, and that's where the majority of your action is coming from. The techniques used to defeat some of them are quite unique. One example is where a boss is hurling missiles at you, and in order to even get to the boss, you actually use the missiles as steps to get near it! Now one of the things you're going to need to do before you start your game, is take some time to really practice your moves. That is an all important must, because constant button mashing will only get you so far. You have to learn Raiden's moves, how to block, parry attacks, and so fourth. Those insane boss battles are going to take full advantage of every move Raiden has to offer, and believe me you're going to need them.

Another cool aspect of the game, is your loyal artificial intellegence dogbot called "Wolf". Some of the conversations with characters in the game also include your dogbot. The storyline might seem a little out there for some folks, especially since a lot of us are used to the typical Metal Gear Solid type setting. The story is pretty much as fast paced as the game itself. Some elements include weapons of mass destruction and a 9/11 reference in the story. It kind of seems out of place, but you don't have to watch them if you want, as you have the option to fast forward through it or just plain skip it all. I recommend watching them though. On a final note, you have definitely got to try out some of those VR missions. They'll give you some valuable experience and make you more lethal to enemies. Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is a bit short, but the fact that you'll come back for more since it has some nice replay value, plus the VR missions and some unlockable cool items like costumes and skills to raise your stats is also a nice touch. It's definitely worth the purchase price and should keep you on your toes until the almighty Ground Zeroes hits the store shelves. I only wonder as of now exactly when that day will be. Now check out the new review video that was done below. It'll give you a better idea of the game play mechanics and storyline. Cheers!
