It's a possibility that David Hayter might be returning to the Metal Gear Solid game series as the voice of Solid Snake in The Phantom Pain

Chủ Nhật, 21 tháng 4, 2013 | 0 nhận xét

Ever since it was known that David Hayter was not doing the voice of Solid Snake in the next Metal Gear game The Phantom Pain and Ground Zeroes, the fan base has hit the ceiling in protest about it. As the photo below illustrates, "One does not simply replace David Hayter as Snake". Hideo Kojima stating that he wanted to take the series in a new direction, but as the fans have dictated, Snake is still Snake right? Even Hayter himself said no one even approached him about the matter, and simply stated in an interview as basically saying that what is done is done. Or is it really that simple? Perhaps, perhaps not. Allow me to point out something floating around out there in case you didn't know.

Recently David Hayter changed his profile image on Twitter to an image of Solid Snake. He also made something of a hinting statement saying:

18 Apr
"I know things about things you know nothing about."

Really? I wonder what it is that he knows that we know nothing about? Could this mean a possible return to Metal Gear as the voice of Solid Snake once again?, or is this something entirely different. I hope it means what a few sites are reporting that it "might" mean. Also, while your at it, take a look at his image gallery when you visit his Twitter page. There are quite a number of interesting photos there you can check out. Meanwhile, if you haven't seen the video of David Hayter's explanation of his lack of a role in the voice of Solid Snake this time around, feel free to check it out below. Cheers!

*Update* Someone just pointed out a very interesting image that I wanted to add to this article, and many thanks to that person for sharing it. Same face or not?, a good question.

A video of David Hayter explaning why he will not be doing the voice of Solid Snake in the new Metal Gear game

I know there is still an uproar taking place out there about this, and many fans still haven't laid this one to rest. Believe me I understand your grief about it. David Hayter is a well known name. We've been listening to him in the role of Solid Snake and Big Boss for about 15 long years now. The decision to not use him once again in the new Metal Gear game has caused a lot of the fan base to hit the ceiling in the worst way. Some long time fans are even saying that they will not buy The Phantom Pain no matter how good it is, just because of the lack of Hayter's voice in it. My question is this, who will be doing the voice, and will it even be half as good as David's voice was?

Hideo Kojima explained recently that the reasoning behind this decision was to "take the series in a new direction". So far I'm not sure exactly what that means. Solid Snake is still Solid Snake right? Anyway, to better put this into perspective, here is a video below with an interview of David Hayter, and he himself explains to the world why the decision was made, and the fact that he too was surprised and hit by the decision not to use him. It should help clarify things for you in case you're still upset by the demise of Solid Snake's longtime voice we've all come to know and love. Also, note that Ground Zeroes and The Phantom Pain are two separate games, but the storyline for both tie into each other. Someone spliced together the trailers to each of them and made a single video of it that you can check out below. It kind of helps shed some light on the issue.

David Hayter speaks his mind about not getting the voice acting role for Solid Snake in The Phantom Pain

Ever since Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was officially announced, and some incredible game play footage revealed for it, the fans have been asking the big question. Where is the voice of David Hayter? He isn't doing the role for Solid Snake as he always has?, you've got to be kidding me. It really has been a public outrage over the matter, and hell hath no fury like a Metal Gear Solid fan's scorn. Hideo Kojima responded with some statements in regards to Hayter not doing Snakes voice this time around. Here is some of what he stated when asked about it recently.

“What we’re trying to accomplish here is [to] recreate the Metal Gear series. It’s a new type of Metal Gear game and we want to have this reflected in the voice actor as well.”

David Hayter himself gave a reasonably longer statement, more like a long goodbye letter to the world regarding his own thoughts about leaving the world of Solid Snake. After all, he has performed Snake's voice ever since the first Metal Gear Solid landed in our living room back in 1998 on the PS1. That role has stuck ever since, all the way up to Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker made its debut in 2010. Hayter's response to the fan base out there is pretty long and explanatory, which I'm sure a lot of you Metal Gear fans are desperately wanting one right now. You can find it in its entirety at Twitlonger. It was posted on April 1st, and unfortunately it's not an April fools joke I'm afraid. But at least it'll set your mind at ease better than it was beforehand.

David, you will be missed my friend. Thank you for the long amount of time that you did Snake's voice. It's something that will not be forgotten, and even though Metal Gear is moving in another direction, every time Solid Snake speaks a word, you will come to mind.

Angry Metal Gear fans are signing a petition to bring David Hayter back to the world of Solid Snake and Big Boss

Thứ Bảy, 30 tháng 3, 2013 | 0 nhận xét

You and I have known him for years, and that actually goes for both of them. Solid Snake and Big Boss have been at the very heart of Metal Gear Solid for well over a decade now. Let me bring you up to speed on what is happening with this whole thing about the well known actor David Hayter. Hayter has been the voice behind Solid Snake ever since the first Metal Gear Solid was produced back in 1998. He has been that same guiding light all the way until Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker made its debut back in 2010. By now many Metal Gear Solid fans have gotten quite attached to Hayter's voice. Unfortunately, it looks like this is the end of the road for his voice career as far as Solid Snake and Big Boss are concerned, and that has many a fan disappointed out there.

Hideo Kojima announced recently that David Hayter not returning is deliberate, as it is supposed to be a new start for the Metal Gear Solid series. However, a number of fans have taken the liberty of bringing out a petition to the table, in an attempt to reverse that decision of course. This may or may not have any impact at all on the matter, but they seem pretty emphatic about the matter. They are literally stating in the topic of their petition that no matter how good Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain ends up becoming, they believe it will not be the same without Hayter doing the voice acting. It will be interesting to see the outcome of this take place, when and if it does. Personally I'm cheering them on and have signed it myself, but if you want to get in on the matter and sign it too you can certainly do so right now at Change.Org. Don't forget to spread the same message to your friends on FaceBook and Twitter. Good luck.
