Did the Metal Gear series really predict the future with green energy based bio fuels?

This is one of those things that came out of left field, and most of you including myself, never knew anything about this. Recently there was an article done by the folks over at Kotaku about how the Metal Gear game series, specifically Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake might have, just might have predicted the future of green energy bio fuels. This all could be academic, but it is a bit fascinating and somewhat interesting. According to the official Wikipedia page for Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, the storyline takes place in the 1990s, and the world is suffering from an oil shortage. A Czech scientist comes to the rescue by creating a special type of algae that's bursting with hydrocarbons and can be used to make oil, both cheap and inexpensively. He is soon captured and held hostage by those who want to dominate the world by controlling its own oil supply. Solid Snake is then taken out of retirement and sent to recover the scientist, among other stealth operations. What exactly is this process of algae to oil production? It does exist, and if you live in California, you can buy it at four gas stations as well. Here is an article at SFGate that shows and discusses it in detail.

Now let me help you out with this. Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake is a lost and precious gem that you might not have known about it. So how about you go ahead and play it right now, you're going to love it. It was released on the MSX2 computer system in Japan only, but don't worry, you can use an emulator, and get the Rom, plus apply a translation patch for it. There is even a walk through for it if you need help getting through Metal Gear 2. I'll point you in the right direction for everything you need right now. You can find the emulator for Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake at blueMSX, which is hailed as the best emulator in the world. The Rom for Metal Gear 2 is at RomHustler, and finally, for those of you who don't speak Japanese, you can get the English translation patch at RomHacking. You'll need an IPS patcher to apply the patch to the Rom, that link is also at RomHacking See picture and video below for proof that it works.

OR, on second thought, if all of this technical garbage is making you mad, you can also download an *already* patched version of Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake from TheIsoZone. Just remember to click the "Free Download" link, not Premium unless you have an account there. After that, enter the capcha code and your done. A walk through for it is also located at GameFaqs as well, like every other Faq in the universe. The blueMSX has a built in save state, as well as a cheat function in case you have a hard time in the game. OK did I miss anything? I think we started off with some subject about algae and Metal Gear predictions. But I digress, if you need help just comment and let me know and I'll see what I can do. Have fun with it!
