The new portable Metal Gear Solid "Social Ops" has now landed on the Google Play platform

Thứ Ba, 25 tháng 12, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

This is both good and bad, at least for right now. There is a new portable Metal Gear game out there called "Social Ops" which has made its way to Japan. Konami has partnered with GREE to deliver this new Metal Gear to fans via their Android phone and iOS. Well Social Ops is now available on Google Play, so you Google Play account users can now enjoy Metal Gear on the road as well. Now for those of you who are new to Social Ops, let me take you back in time, to the early PSP days if I may. Do you remember Metal Gear Acid?, it was also followed by a sequel, which is Metal Gear Acid 2 of course. But both of those titles were different in the fact that they were card based Metal Gear games. Perhaps you could look at both of them as "Yu-Gi-Oh! meets Metal Gear", that would probably be a proper analogy. Social Ops is somewhat like those, in the fact that it too, is a card based title.

Now on to the bad part. As it currently stands right now, only Japan will be getting Metal Gear Solid Social Ops for their Android phone, iOS, and now as it's landed on Google's Play section. The reason behind this is because Konami games development likely wants to test market the new Metal Gear to see how well it's received, and if doing so yields good results, then it just may make it to other parts of the world as well. You can find out more about Google Play by visiting their official gaming page for all the coolest titles that they have listed there. Go on ahead and check out a couple of popular video trailers below for Social Ops and see what you think about it. A card based Metal Gear Solid game might just surprise you. The first one is about 20 minutes long and contains quite of bit of game play footage, which should give you a better insight as to whether or not this title is right for you. Cheers.

New Metal Gear ready from Apple's Japanese App store

Thứ Tư, 5 tháng 12, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

Konami games development has seen another release for iPhone users, as well as Android. To mark the 25 anniversary of the series, a new Metal Gear game called "Metal Gear Solid Social Ops" is ready and waiting at Apple's Japanese App store as of right now. I actually posted about this back in August of this year, here is the link in case you missed it. It seems this year is Metal Gear madness year, and why not?, the more the merrier I say. Now Social Ops isn't quite the Metal Gear game you might be used to. It's more in line with Metal Gear Acid, 2 "card based" hit titles that were released on the PSP some years ago. This one is similar in respects because it is also card based on the cards you receive as you make your way through the game.

As it currently stands right now, only Japanese owners will enjoy this title so far, and there is no mention as to whether or not Konami plans to bring it out worldwide. But that is likely going to happen, as there never was a mention that only the Japanese version will ever see the light of day. Check out the video and image below and see if this particular Metal Gear is going to help make your Christmas a tad bit better this year.

Card shots for the new Metal Gear Social ops on SmartPhone are out now

Thứ Ba, 18 tháng 9, 2012 | 0 nhận xét

At the end of last month I posted about the new Metal Gear game for SmartPhone called Social Ops. It's a Unity-based title and will be available for purchase on GREE's mobile game network. The Metal Gear game series has literally exploded this year, and it's probably due to the fact that this is the 25th anniversary of Metal Gear, something definitely worth celebrating. We have Konami games development showing off their newest Metal Gear game Ground Zeroes and Rising Revengeance, not to mention the Metal Gear game collection in HD, added trophies for Guns of the Patriots, and so on. Social Ops is going to be somewhat similar to what Metal Gear Acid was like in the respect that instead of sneaking, stealth, hand to hand in your face combat that the Metal Gear game series is known for, this one will be card based.

That might or might not turn some people off, a good point made from the source article at TouchArcade yesterday, as there are those that believe Metal Gear should stay right where it is better known, a stealth and combat type game play experience. But then again, the Metal Gear Acid games did have a positive impact, at least among certain gamers. Maybe we can have the best of both worlds at the same time. Look at the cards below that Hideo Kojima recently talked about on his Twitter account and see what you think so far.
More on this when Konami reveals the new portable Metal Gear game at the Tokyo Game Show soon.
